This Yilu (first road) is the traditional first frame from Chen Zhaokui via Chenyu. These names do NOT translate well as the word usage is quite old and confusing even for native Chinese speakers. Some words are so specific we don’t have any equivalent in English so we just do our best to get close to the meaning. This is also a work in progress and those with contribution are welcome to contact. More work may follow but this is a start.

Originally an 83 sequences frame from Chen Zhaokui, Chenyu expanded on some counting rules to make more clear some movements, resulting in 89. Even at 89 sequences some are still omitted. Aside from that MANY actual moves/actions simply have no names. Some of the tones and even characters are still in dispute. In some cases it is not unlikely that the surviving characters have mutated over hundreds of years of oral history by people with varying local dialects and levels of literacy. We have attempted to come to the best translation based on linguistic issues in combination with understanding of the movements.
